Here’s the fundamental trick, as it looks like to your spectators. You hold a ordinary deck of cards, and fan it out, like they would expect. Then you order them to choose a card, any card. They select card, and you tell them to study it carefully, and present it to their friends. After they position it back in the deck, you bafflingly pluck it right out. They will be amazed, and think you have powerful telepathic powers.

Here’s how to do the stunt. While they are busily learning their card, you split the deck, and produce a place for them to situate their card. All you need to do is take a instant peak at the card that you will place on top of theirs. This is only a few ways to reveal their card, I’m sure you can consider of many others. The more you can talk up your psychic powers of inference before this trick, the better.
